About

My name is Jenny and I am piano teacher. I started learning how to code on Neopets (no relation to NeoCities) in 2002. Each account was given one webpage as apart of their free social media account pre-Facebook. Eventually, I was interested in creating a larger site and I came across GeoCities (also no relation, but an inspiration for NeoCities). After being displeased with the available snowflake theme, I decided to scrap the themes and learn to code a better site.

I turned for help to Lissa Explains It All, a website attractively paying homage to a popular 90s show, Clarissa Explains It All. This site was started by a young girl who compiled all she knew about HTML coding in a format that was easy to follow. I created many webpages to share my drawings, my favorite shows, and just blog. Sadly, GeoCities was discontinued sometime during my high school or college days, so all I have left is a copy of my homepage circa 2006. It still has a drawing that I uploaded for the front page. Probably my most favorite accomplishment was learning CSS, however JavaScript still eludes me.

Given that my HTML and CSS knowledge are circa 2004, I have a lot to catch up on. I got some help from W3Schools and I'm currently working through some Codecademy tutorials. However, it became obvious to me that the only way any of this will stick is to turn back to what I used to do as a hobby for so many hours during high school: create and manage an actual website!!

I have been through many template driven hosts that drive me crazy and I am so happy to have stumbled across NeoCities, a site that has the same vision and a similar name as GeoCities.

My goal for this website is to get practice creating a full-functioning website that will hopefully be used to help my piano students as well as give me practice coding and creating. This is a hobby and I fully expect their to be mistakes and errors. I hope you will enjoy following this site as I create and learn by trial and error!
